Would it be too bold as to say that Scottsdale is one of the best cities in the country when it comes to car culture?
Pictured:
Type R: I always thought the body ki t was too extravagant but in rallye red the lines seem to soften, I thought it looked good.
M6: the gran coupe was indeed gran, but sure isn’t a coupe, this much has been discussed. it looks good but my god is it long.
Not Pictured (wasn’t quick enough with the camera):
convertible 458 spider: not my favorite ferrari if I had a choice, even though I never will
some poor sap standing next to his giulia quadrifoglio in the middle of an intersection: I guess stereotypes are stereotypes for a reason.

Defini tely too bold. Most of what I’ve seen in Scottsdale is more money than taste.

I don’t know why anyone would live in Arizona voluntarily , my family lived there from when I was 7 until I was 12. It’s too fucking hot.

Cheap place to live and low standards lol.

The heat isn’t all that bad, granted you can’t do outside activities, i’m sure 99% of people go from AC in the house, to the car, to the their destination. Plus it’s cheap.

Scottsdale has no culture.

The only thing I ever heard about Scottsdale is that there’s quite a lot of Mormon money there. Doesn’t sound like it’s for me.

I had a heat related comment too, but Señor M3 dismissed my quib at his hate for our great, deeply flawed, and hot as shit state.

it’s trying real hard to be the beverly hills of the desert, that’s for sure

That’s exactly what it is. There’s probably more money in Scottsdale, though. Arizona is the Dubai of the United States.

Did he actually dismiss your comment?

It was either dismissed or it was a Kinja fuck up. Shows up in the greys on this thread. I edited it after it disappeared. I originally showed a pic of Flagstaff’s weather report showing a current temp of 35F, poking fun at the fact that half of Arizona is at a fairly high elevation with mild (and cold) temps year round.

That’s the truth man. And while I agree that Scottsdale is basically chock full of Paris Hilton wanna-bes, trophy wives and bunch of Gordon Gecko clones, it is indeed a fun place to see cars. Phoenix in general, really, is a great car city. I literally see a bonafide supercar almost every day, and I couldn’t even count how many entry-level for the rich guy but still unobtainium for m ost of us exotics I see day to day. There’s a dude in my neighborhood who daily drives a V10 R8, my gym parking lot has two G-wagens in it, along with the occasional Lambo, ZL1 Camaros, its crazy. That doesnt even touch the fact that there are so many classic cars and “quasi-classics” from my youth still on the road out here thanks to being rust-free!
And I LOVE the heat. Born and raised in Denver, been here in AZ for four years and I’ll never leave.

My in-laws live in the Ahwautukee foothills and I love just driving around car spotting when I visit. Phoenix seems to get new models first too. I remember when the C7 came out I had seen maybe one in person until I got to Phoenix and couldn’t throw a rock out the window on IH10 without breaking the windshield on one.
